Prosecutors Allege Over 1,000 Assaults on Capitol Police

Court filing includes video footage of assaults from January 6.

In the case involving one of the hundreds of people charged over the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, court filings include video of U.S. Capitol Police and D.C. Metro officers facing violence while trying to defend the building and legislators.

A prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., wrote in a court filing, “Based on a review of the body-worn-camera footage conducted by our Office, the footage displays approximately 1,000 events that may be characterized as assaults on federal officers.”

Prosecutors are expected to upload 7,000 hours of footage provided by the Capitol police to the FBI over the next four weeks. They said, “An additional 7,000 hours of footage is not relevant to this case.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For officials in the FBI as evidence is compiled regarding January 6 events.
  • For federal prosecutors and defense attorneys as they prepare filings and engage in proceedings over the protests at the U.S. Capitol.
  • That all defendants be given due process of the law as required under the Constitution.
